What is the purpose of the PTO?

The purpose of this organization is to promise the welfare of Lake Country Academy and the students therein, to bring into closer relation the teachers, parents and the school and to support the activities/programs of the school and teachers through financial and/or volunteer support.

Why should I join the PTO?

LCA has the reputation of being an involved and close community. We are an organization you can be proud to be a part of. The PTO strives to continue to enhance and enrich our childrenís educational experience, and make a difference in our familiesí lives! It is also a great way for busy families to get together socially Ė both kids and parents have begun lasting friendships at PTO family functions and meetings.

Does it cost anything, where does the money go?

There are NO DUES for membership! The use of funds derived by this organization shall be for the benefit and improvement of the school and teachers and to support school activities as approved by the PTO Board.

What can I do for our PTO?

Our programs and events are organized, funded and run by our members. We invite you to participate by volunteering. A great variety of volunteer opportunities are available. We have everything from leadership roles to set up/clean up at family events. Many events require manpower at tables, baking or just assisting other volunteers with their projects inside the comfort of your own home! The more volunteers, the easier the task!

What happens at meetings?

Meetings are held at LCA. There is an agenda that includes a report from our principal, a treasurerís report, and updates on upcoming events and fundraisers. It is also a forum to discuss new issues and propose new ideas. All parents, teachers and staff are welcome and encouraged to attend. Itís a chance to not only get involved in your childís education but to also have your voice heard.

Log Your Volunteer Hours

Each family is required to volunteer a minimum of 40 hours per school year. It is our volunteers that help make our school successful.

There are 3 different ways that you can log your volunteer hours for the year:

  1. You can go into the school office and log all your hours by hand into the volunteer hourís binder. Your hours will then be transferred by a member of the school staff onto our volunteer hourís website.
  2. You can send an email to ivolunteer@lakecountryacademy.com . Your hours will then be transferred by a PTO member onto our volunteer hourís website.
  3. You can go to www.lcafamily.com , log in and log your own volunteer hours. It is simple and easy. If you need assistance with your password or any other aspect on the site you can send an email to ivolunteer@lakecountryacademy.com or to rosa_hartman@yahoo.com and we will answer all of your questions. You can also review the Family Portal Tutorial for detailed instructions.

At the end of each month each family will receive an email from www.lcafamily.com showing your current hours. This way you will always know your status.
